Mike Schultz

2X Paralympian

Since becoming an adaptive athlete in 2008, Para snowboarder and action sports enthusiast “Monster” Mike Schultz has transformed the world of adaptive sport.

After a professional snocross race accident resulted in the amputations of his left leg, Schultz engineered his own prosthetic knee using a patented linkage system and a mountain bike shock. Within seven months, Schultz was competing on the national stage at the ESPN X Games and in 2010 became the first person to win a gold medal at the Summer and Winter X Games. That same year, Schultz founded BioDapt, Inc., which has been instrumental in the development of prosthetics for action sports athletes.

Schultz joined the U.S. Para Snowboard Team in 2015 and brought home a gold medal and a silver medal at the 2018 Paralympics in Pyeongchang where he was also U.S. flag bearer at the Opening Ceremony. Shultz made his second U.S. Paralympic Team in 2022, where he competed at the Paralympics in Beijing and brought home silver in the men’s snowboard cross (Lower Limb 1 Impaired). In 2023, he won silver in the dual banked slalom and bronze in the men’s snowboard cross at the World Championships

Outside of competition and BioDapt, Schultz spends time with his wife, Sara, and daughter, Lauren, at home near St. Cloud, Minnesota.
