Jeanene LeSure began her professional career in the private sector in 2004, providing therapy for people with spinal cord injuries and disabilities at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta. She then transitioned her employment to the Department of Veterans Affairs 15 years ago as a recreational therapist after the initial wounded veterans returned from Operation Enduring Freedom/Iraqi Freedom. Among her professional endeavors was starting up the Tampa VA’s Adaptive Sports Program, serving as local coordinator for the 2013 National Veterans Wheelchair Games. She is currently administrative officer for the National Veterans Golden Age Games, the world’s largest multi-sport competition solely for senior veterans. She enjoys the great outdoors, traveling and actively serving her community through her membership in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and as co-founder and executive director/program manager for her newly established nonprofit, INSPIRE by L.E.S.U.R.E., Inc., that serves as a mentoring program for middle and high school youth.
