Glenn Merry

Executive Director, Move United

Glenn Merry joined Move United as the Executive Director in the fall of 2018 and leads the strategic growth and management of the organization. In 2019, he, with the Move United team, created Vision 2028 with a focus on growing the adaptive sports movement in preparation for the return of the Paralympic Games to the United States in Los Angeles 2028. Vision 2028 supports that every person, regardless of ability, has an equal opportunity to participate in sports and recreation in their community. To that end, Move United has expanded by 85% in the past three years, annually reaching 130,000 athletes in 228 community based locations across 46 states.

His experience leading nonprofit and sport organizations spans three decades, previously serving as the CEO of the United States Rowing Association, an Olympic National Governing Body. A leader for diversity and inclusion in sport, Merry set the standard for a culture shift within rowing, driving ethnic diversity to 12%, launching USRowing’s adaptive/para rowing program and creating Freedom Rows, a national program serving military veterans.

Merry is a graduate of the Masters Program in Sports Management – offered through the International Olympic Committee.
