Chris Werle is a strategist with a rare mix of consumer, sports and issues management expertise. He has advised many of the largest companies in the world, counseled professional leagues, teams and athletes, and led transformative collegiate athletics administrative change. He partners with collegiate athletic departments and conferences, professional sports teams and leagues, and consumer products and services companies to improve brand positioning, marketing, communications and overall stakeholder engagement. Additionally, he provides high-level strategic counsel, crisis management and issues mitigation, including media and message training to senior executives and their legal counsel. Prior to starting his own consulting firm, Werle was the senior associate athletic director at the University of Minnesota, leading the marketing, communications, digital and social media, licensing, sales and IT units for the department. Prior to that, he was a marketing and communications executive with Microsoft and Estee Lauder, launching Microsoft’s Xbox gaming console and games studios and overseeing and contributing to Estee Lauder’s various brands, including Aveda. Werle has also consulted for numerous companies, overseeing Coca-Cola’s Olympic, NFL, NBA, NHL and NASCAR sponsorships, the FedEx PGA and NASCAR properties, the U.S. Army All-American Bowl and motorsports efforts among others. He has worked with all of the major professional sports leagues and some of the world’s most recognizable athletes including LeBron James, Tiger Woods, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Troy Aikman, Sergio Garcia, Joe Namath and Ronaldinho.
